Are you embarrassed by your smile? Do you catch yourself covering your mouth when you laugh? Do you wish your teeth were whiter or straighter, larger or smaller, had no gaps between them or weren’t missing?
No matter what flaws keep you from smiling, a Smile Makeover can help you.

The wonderful thing about smiles is that they are unique to you, and the wonderful thing about Smile makeovers is that your fantastic smile stays unique but is enhanced with various cosmetic dental techniques and treatments to achieve a unique, natural beauty all your own.

If you are self-conscious about your smile and avoid smiling, your quality of life is ultimately affected. When you want to appear confident and attractive, your reluctance to smile may project an insecure or less-than-attractive image.   If you are typically enthusiastic and quick to share laughter with friends and colleagues but begin to hide your smile and quell your laugh, you are no longer presenting your true personality.

At Smiles by Hillside, we understand the importance of a beautiful, healthy-looking smile and can help you design the smile you desire, reflecting your personality and self-assurance.

With a host of cosmetic and restorative dental treatments available, we have the professional tools, experience, and skills necessary to transform your smile.  From teeth whitening to dazzling porcelain veneers to crowns and dental implants, your Smiles by Hillside dentist can create a treatment plan to ensure you realise your dream smile.  Your vision of that smile will guide the way as treatment options are discussed and your needs – and budget – are listened to and followed.

Dentures

Dentures offer an affordable restorative solution to multiple missing teeth.  Worn by millions throughout the world, dentures are by far the most commonplace dental appliance in use today.

Smiles by Hillside provides superior dentures and offers the added benefit of in-house dental technicians, who can construct dentures precisely to the exact measurements taken by your dentist.  Your dentist will discuss treatment recommendations with you, including the type of denture is best suited to your case:

  • Removable dentures
  • Partial dentures
  • Implant-supported dentures

Your denture exam will include several specific steps:

  • Ensure that your gums are healthy and bone ridges are stabilised
  • Measure and record your unique facial and oral structure for the best aesthetic appearance
  • Moulds of your mouth will be made to ensure an exceptional fit
  • Your denture is constructed in-house by our highly skilled dental technicians
  • Your finished denture is placed

You will have a follow up appointment scheduled that allows your dentist to check the fit and look of your denture after you have been wearing it.  You will also be asked if you have experienced any discomfort or if the denture has moved or slipped.  Adjustments can be made immediately during this visit to resolve any small issues you may encounter.

Dental Bridges

Dental bridges bridge the gap created by one or more missing teeth.

A bridge is made up of two crowns and a replacement tooth. The two crowns affixed to the teeth, known as abutment teeth, are adjacent to the gap. The replacement tooth is high-quality porcelain or ceramic that is colour-matched to existing teeth and strong enough to provide complete functionality. Natural teeth or implants can support dental bridges.

The benefits of dental bridges can allow you to:

  • Restore your smile
  • Restore your ability to chew and speak properly
  • Maintain the natural structure and shape of your face
  • Distribute bite forces properly
  • Prevent your remaining teeth from drifting out of position

At your consultation and exam visit, your Smiles by Hillside dentist will ensure that your abutment teeth can support your dental bridge or will determine that dental implants are appropriate to support surrogates. Once your treatment plan is established and discussed with you in detail, your dentist will begin the treatment process, which will include the following:

  • Preparation of the abutment teeth
    – re-contouring to allow for crown placement
  • Teeth impressions are taken
    – these will serve as a model for the dental lab
  • Temporary bridge was made and placed
    – protection for exposed abutment teeth and gums

When your permanent bridge is completed, you will return for your second visit, where your dentist will remove the temporary bridge and replace it with your new, custom-made permanent bridge. The fit and feel will be checked thoroughly to ensure your bite is correct and your dental bridge is appropriately in place. We will encourage you to contact us if you encounter any difficulties or discomfort, and we will schedule a follow-up visit to re-check fit and bite alignment.

Dental bridges can last 5 to 15 years, or even longer, with proper oral maintenance and regular checkups.

We are sure you will enjoy the enhanced quality of life achieved with your expertly made and placed dental bridge, eating quickly and speaking clearly, perhaps for the first time in many years. We look forward to seeing you happy and flashing a great smile.
